More on Our Curriculum
Inquiry into Japan: Culture, Language, and Inquiry-Based Learning Skills
This course helps students acquire foundational Japanese language skills, including basic expressions and vocabulary, while also fostering a comprehensive command of the language. Students will delve into the characteristics of both traditional and modern Japanese society. Through a variety of themes—such as seasonal events, daily customs, and cultural values—we use videos and hands-on activities to deepen understanding. By learning the language, students not only build a foundation for cross-cultural understanding but also develop essential inquiry skills like information gathering, organization, and presentation.
Inquiry into Earth (Science): Connecting Cambodian Science and Society to Global Perspectives
This course connects familiar natural phenomena and social systems within the context of Cambodia to broader, global issues. Students will explore real-world challenges such as environmental problems, disaster preparedness, resources, and development by linking them to their knowledge of science and social studies. We use research, experiments, and fieldwork to broaden students' perspectives from local challenges to global concerns, thereby nurturing their scientific thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Inquiry into Khmer: Preserving Language and Culture with Cambodian Teachers
In this class, students will improve their Khmer language proficiency while gaining a deeper understanding of traditional culture, art, and history from a local perspective. We aim to strengthen students' ability to express themselves in their mother tongue, fostering a sense of pride in their own culture and a strong sense of identity. The course also encourages students to re-examine their cultural heritage as a resource to be preserved for future generations.
